International Graduate Course for Continuing Professional Development(CPD)
Japan’s international obligations include supporting the industrialization of developing countries. In particular, the cultivation of human resources to form the core of advancing industrialization has shown to be exceptionally effective in facilitating autonomous, sustainable, and long-term development in these countries. Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) has, thus far, accepted working professionals from various countries in Asia and Latin America as international students.
In recent years, the rapid advancement of manufacturing technologies in various developing countries (especially in Asia and Latin America) has necessitated the support of engineers and researchers with the ability to conduct and instruct at high levels of research and development. Accordingly, there is a demand for universities in these countries to produce leaders in education and research that can, in turn, develop the human resources required by local industries.
In addition, Japanese-affiliated companies looking to expand their global presence require highly trained individuals to assume a central role in research and manufacturing centers around the world. In response to these needs, the objective of the International Graduate Course for Continuing Professional Development is to train working professionals from all developing countries to become leaders that can support the rapid advancement of technology and contribute to the development of their home countries’ industries.
This course is characterized by the following: (1) a focus on working engineers and researchers from developing countries, (2) a curriculum designed to develop practical research capabilities in course graduates that enable them to assume a central role in on-site research and manufacturing centers, (3) education and research guidance conducted in English, (4) opportunities to experience Japan’s technical innovation through internships, and (5) opportunities to learn Japanese language (including Business Japanese) and gain a familiarity with Japanese Affairs.
It is hoped that students enrolled in this course will be able to experience Japan’s technical innovation, and that course graduates will play active leadership roles as pragmatic engineers and researchers that contribute to the development of industries in their respective home countries.
