International Exchange Project with ESIEE‐Amiens

Feb.26.2015

Nagaoka Univ. of Tech. (NUT) and École supérieure d'ingénieurs en électrotechnique et électronique in Amiens (ESIEE-Amiens) were established an Agreement of Academic and Scientific Cooperation in March, 2014. This year, NUT accept one graduate student as a Special Audit Student from ESIEE. NUT expects to send our students as an internship student. For the purpose of thriving our relationship, prof. Jun-ichi ITO vitited ESIEE-Amiens and met prof. Laurent Baroux (International Relations Head Officer) and discussed our future plan about the student exchange. It was found that the issue to be solved is the language barrier between French and Japanese. It is not easy to find appropriate company where the common language inside the company is English nearby Amiens. We may exchange our master course student between two universities.

Promotion of Student Exchange - Acceptance of Research Exchange Student (Asian Institute of Technology)

Nov.20.2015

As the internship program progressed he had learnt a lot about the road conditions, safety issues, pavement materials etc. The main purpose of his program is to collect information about his research topic i.e. “High Friction Surface treatment of Pavement”. He has got information regarding the material that hare being used for high friction surfaces. For the aggregates mostly Calcined bauxite is used and for binding Epoxy-resin is used. He has searched for other materials that can be used for this purpose or not. Through his search he has found that flint, slags & granite materials can also be used as aggregates and Rosin-ester, Polyurethane-resin, Acrylic-resin can be used as binders. So his research is to make combination of these aggregates and binders and check which combination is more effective in terms of longevity and cost efficiency. Also during his stay at NUT, he had also participated in the Poster Presentation in the 4th International GIGAKU Conference in Nagaoka on 20th June, 2015. His topic for the presentation was “Road Accident Characteristics on Metropolitan Cities of India”. The presentation shows about the accident causes in India. It also shows about the percentage of which vehicle category is more likely to have accidents. Many interesting results were observed from the presentation. Moreover, this was really a great experience for him to interact with many international personalities. Last but not the least, he can say that with this program he has gained enough knowledge on pavement surface and also had the opportunity to see the road conditions of Japan. According to him, for the betterment of the road surface most of the Asian countries should have a proper network system of road transport and maintenance that he had observed during his stay in Japan.
