Thailand Office Established

As part of “Tri-Institutional (Toyohashi University of Technology, Institute of National Collages of Technology, Japan, and Nagaoka University of Technology) Collaborative/ Cooperative Educational Reformation Project” (Project for Promoting National University Reformation), we established Nagaoka University of Technology Thailand Office within the Faculty of Engineering of Thammasat University, Thailand. It was established with the aim of developing, arranging, and maintaining places for students of both universities and technical college students to receive overseas internship training in ASEAN countries, as well as improving global opportunities for industrial–academic cooperation.

On April 24, to commemorate the opening of the office and to show Nagaoka University of Technology’s achievements in research and development, which rooted in the spirit of “GIGAKU”, to industry, institutes concerned, and the press in Thailand, we held the “Global Internship Training Seminar Commemorating Nagaoka University of Technology Thailand Office” in Bangkok. It was attended by 80 people, including those involved in academic partner institutes of NUT, business in Thailand, and Japanese universities with a base in Thailand as well as Japanese and Thai governmental officials.

Before the seminar, the opening ceremony for NUT Thailand Office took place, in which we received congratulatory speeches on behalf of guests from Dr. Somkit Lertpaithoon (President of Thammasat University), Mr. Shigeki Kobayashi (Counsellor, Embassy of Japan in Thailand), and Dr. Choompol Boonmee (Associate Prof. of Thammasat University), who graduated from NUT.

In the Global Internship Training Seminar, the NUT overseas internship training system and tri-institutional collaboration projects were explained. In addition, students who participated in the overseas internship training in companies and research institutes in Thailand last year shared their own experiences.

Taking advantage of the opening of the office, we strive to strengthen cooperation further with organizations and industry concerned in Thailand and ASEAN regions.
