Qualifications and Requirements for Application
Applicants must satisfy all of the following requirements listed below:

Must not have Japanese nationality. (excluding permanent resident of Japan)
- Have taken the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students conducted by the Japan Student Services Organization, an independent administrative institution (either the first or second round of examinations for that year). The applicant must take four subjects in three categories, i.e., Japanese, Mathematics (Course 2), and two chosen by the applicant out of the Science subjects.
- Must have taken, in or after January of the previous year, one of the following English language tests: TOEIC L&R (SP “Open Test”) or TOEFL (iBT [Internet-based test], or iBT Home Edition).
- Meet one of the following requirements:
- Have successfully completed 12-years of education in the school system of a country other than Japan, or be expected to complete by March 31st, or is designated by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as equivalent to either of the former two.
- Have the International Baccalaureate, Abitur, Baccalaureate or GCEA level qualification. Regarding GCEA level, the applicant has passed 3 or more subjects (Grade E or above) of GCEA Level Examination.
- Those who have completed a 12-year program at an educational facility that has received accreditation from WASC, ACSI, CIS, NEASC, Cognia or COBIS.
Note 1: In any of the cases 1 through 3 of (4) above, applicants must either already have legal resident status in Japan which qualifies the applicant to enter a Japanese university in compliance with Japan’s “Immigration Control and Refugee Recognition Act”, or be expected to obtain this legal status after entering university.
Note 2: University will confirm whether each applicant meets the application requirements, etc., or not before application. Be sure to contact the Division of Admissions for instruction and submit the designated documents.
Screening Procedures
The applicants will be judged on three components: the application documents, scores in the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students, and TOEIC or TOEFL scores.
