Kick-off Meeting Held for "Multicultural Campus Project Toward Social Impact"

On Thursday, March 27, Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) held a kick-off meeting at Hotel New Otani Nagaoka and via Zoom webinar in response to our university's adoption into the Ministry of Education (MEXT), Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "Multicultural Campus Project Toward Social Impact".
The event began with an opening address from Shigeharu KAMADO, president of NUT, who shared his expectations and future vision for the project. Following this, Yukio MIYASHITA, special president aide of NUT, provided an overview of the program, detailing its specific goals and plans.
At the event, several special lectures were delivered. Yusuke SHOJI, deputy director at Higher Education Bureau of MEXT, spoke about the current state of student mobility and the government's policies and related measures for university internationalization. Shigehiro TOYAMA, vice-president of National Institute of Technology, Nagaoka College, gave a presentation on their international exchange initiatives and their efforts to contribute to regional revitalization through industry-academia-government collaboration. Furthermore, Batumengke, a Mongolian alumnus of our university who now works at Macoho Co., Ltd., discussed the career development of foreign talents in regional areas and the systems for their acceptance. Finally, Yusuke NISHIYAMA, director, Commerce and Industry Department of Nagaoka City, shared details on the city's initiatives to promote the utilization of foreign talents.
The event was a great success, concluded with a closing address from Masatoshi TAKEDA, vice-president of NUT, who expressed his hopes for future collaboration.
The event attracted a large audience, with approximately 90 people attending in person and 70 online. The high attendance demonstrated great anticipation for the program and strong interest in its future initiatives.
Moving forward, we will promote the development of R&D talents who can make significant contributions to society with our local communities while constructing a global GIGAKU collaborative learning model.
