Trial Lecture on Multicultural Collaborative Learning with Overseas Universities was conducted
October 29, 2025
On Tuesday, October 7, a trial lecture focused on multicultural collaborative learning was conducted online, connecting students from three institutions: Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology. The lecture featured a guest lecturer from UTM was conducted entirely in English, consisting of a lecture, group discussions, and student presentations under the theme, "Mental Health Matters - Global Voices, Local Struggles." Throughout the approximately two hours lecture, the participating students engaged in deep discussions on global perspectives and local issues related to mental health.
This initiative was implemented as part of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's "Multicultural Campus Project Toward Social Impact." While collaborative learning classes with international students enrolled at NUT have been offered in some existing classes, this marked the first time such collaborative learning was conducted with students from overseas universities.
For the participating students, it was a meaningful opportunity that allowed them to reaffirm the importance of English as a communication tool, and to gain new perspectives and insights through collaborative learning with students from overseas universities, even while facing challenges arising from differences in language and culture. According to the post-event survey, all respondents expressed a strong desire to participate in similar programs in the future.
Through continued efforts under this project, NUT remains committed to fostering individuals who can understand other countries, cultivate an attitude of accepting diversity, and engage in the resolution of global issues while also deepening their understanding of their own country.
