The 2nd Multicultural Collaborative Learning Lecture was Conducted
November 07, 2025
On Monday, October 27, we invited Associate Professor Yasutaka Ueda from the Faculty of Engineering at Niigata University to give a lecture on "Industry-Academia Collaborative International PBL to foster International responsiveness: Practical Case of G-DORM at Niigata University Faculty of Engineering."
At our university, based on the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-adopted project "Multicultural Campus Project Toward Social Impact " (Project Concept Title: "Establishment of a Global GIGAKU Collaborative Learning Model and development of R&D Professionals to transform Local Manufacturing Industries and Local Communities"), we are working to enhance multicultural collaborative learning courses and realize a global campus where students can cultivate a global mindset without studying abroad.
In the lecture, Associate Professor Ueda introduced the efforts of "G-DORM," a problem- based learning program at Niigata University that transcends academic year, major, and nationality. He spoke about the program's background, responses during the COVID-19 pandemic, and future prospects, as well as the growth of students who participated and the effects of collaborative learning with overseas universities.
Furthermore, he shared many practical examples, including methods of collaboration with overseas universities, ways of evaluation and cooperation with companies, which were highly informative for our faculty and staff promoting multicultural collaborative learning. The Q&A session was also lively, making it a meaningful learning opportunity.
Based on the insights gained from this lecture, we will continue to promote the development of global R&D professionals with fundamental skills of working adults and international mindset through multicultural collaborative learning courses, aiming to realize a global campus.
