The 3rd Multicultural Collaborative Learning Lecture was Conducted

On Monday, December 8, we invited Mr. Kazuki Yamamoto, CEO and Representative Member of Inquiry LLC, to give a lecture under the theme of "Exploring Facilitation That Leverages Diversity and Creates Co-Creation."

In the project adopted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, namely "Multicultural Campus Project Toward Social Impact" (Project Concept Name: "Establishment of a Global GIGAKU Collaborative Learning Model and development of R&D Professionals to transform Local Manufacturing Industries and Local Communities"), one of the goals is to acquire the ability to find and solve issues from multiple perspectives through mutual learning based on "Multicultural Collaborative Learning." In collaboration through discussion, facilitation is one of the important elements.

In this lecture, faculty members and staff participated and learned about the basics of facilitation. The lecture was conducted in a workshop format, and first, Mr. Yamamoto provided explanations about facilitation methods, ways of thinking, and what it means to be a facilitator.

After that, group work was carried out under the theme of "The Possibilities of Universities Created Through Facilitation." Faculty members and staff exchanged opinions from their respective standpoints and discussed the effectiveness of facilitation in classes and meetings. The group work proceeded in a lively atmosphere throughout, and active interaction among participants was observed. The final question-and-answer session was also actively conducted, and the two hours felt as though they passed in no time due to the substantial content.

There was also warm advice from the lecturer, saying, "You should aim to become a facilitator that suits your own strengths," and the lecture provided much learning for the participating faculty members and staff.

We will continue to make efforts to cultivate practical R&D human resources who can apply their specialized knowledge and abilities to research and development through "Multicultural Collaborative Learning."
