International Webinar on the Future of Engineering Education was Held to Commemorate World Engineering Day

On Thursday, March 5, an international webinar titled "Envisaging the Future of Engineering Education: Evolving to Digitization and Innovation in Engineering" was held to celebrate World Engineering Day (Wednesday, March 4). This webinar was organized in collaboration with UNESCO, International Federation of Engineering Education Societies (IFEES), Global Engineering Deans Council (GEDC), Africa Engineering Education Council, Commonwealth Engineers Council (CEC), World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO), International Centre for Engineering Education (ICEE), and the Africa Asia Pacific Accord. From Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT), Prof. Miyashita, Vice President and Dr. Katsumi, Chief University Education Administrator, participated as panelists.

During the session, domestic and international experts exchanged views on the essential skills and educational frameworks required for the future of engineering, particularly in the context of rapid digitalization and the integration of AI. The participants also engaged in deep discussions regarding the development of future engineers, micro-credentials, quality assurance, innovative pedagogical methods, and the realization of inclusive and transformative education.

In NUT's presentation, Prof. Miyashita introduced the DXR Manufacturing Open Innovation Center, highlighting NUT's advanced education and research environment that leverages digital technologies. Additionally, Dr. Katsumi presented on the themes of the SDGs and Digital Transformation (DX), emphasizing the vital role of DX in engineering education for achieving sustainable development.
