NUT established the "Nagaoka University of Technology Uzbekistan Office"

Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) has established a new overseas office, the "Nagaoka University of Technology Uzbekistan Office" (NUT-TSTU OFFICE), on the campus of Tashkent State Technical University (TSTU) in Uzbekistan. An opening ceremony was held on-site to mark the occasion.

Numerous distinguished guests and stakeholders attended the ceremony, including Mr. Kenji Hirata, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the republic of Uzbekistan, and Dr. Sadriddin Makhamatdinovich Turabjanov, Rector of TSTU.

During the ceremony, Dr. Shigeharu Kamado, President of NUT, delivered an opening address. He expressed his deep gratitude to everyone involved in establishing the office, emphasizing the honor and significance of establishing an office within Uzbekistan's leading university for engineering education.

NUT promotes practical "GIGAKU education" built on three pillars: industry-academia collaboration, integrated undergraduate/graduate education, and collaboration between KOSEN (National Institutes of Technology) and NUT. In 2024, our university was selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) as a recipient of the "Multicultural Campus Project Toward Social Impact" through our project plan, "Establishment of a Global GIGAKU Collaborative Learning Model and development of R&D Professionals to transform Local Manufacturing Industries and Local Communities," which expands upon this educational model. Under this project, we are building an educational model that combines traditional GIGAKU education with "Multicultural Collaborative Learning." The project enables Japanese students, international students, and KOSEN students to work together across national and cultural boundaries to address local issues, while also fostering a truly global campus environment at the university.

The newly established Office will serve as a vital hub for welcoming international students and young researchers from Uzbekistan, as well as advancing industry-academia collaborative education and joint international research. Local Uzbek media attended the ceremony, broadcasting coverage of the event alongside an interview with Dr. Kamado.

We remain committed to deepening this partnership, serving as a strong bridge between Japan and Uzbekistan to foster a continuous positive reinforcement cycle of technology and talent that will transform local industries and communities in both nations.
