NUT Establishes Joint Graduate School in Hanoi University of Science and Technology

Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) established a graduate school to develop practical, innovative global engineers based on GIGAKU (Science of Technology), Vietnam Japan International Institute for Science of Technology (VJIIST), with a highly prestigious university in Vietnam, Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST).

On September 5, the opening ceremony was held at HUST. Students will be accepted from September 2015. For the time being, VJIIST starts with four fields of mechanics, electricity, materials, and IT and about 50 students for each field: a total of about 200 students. Fundamentally, the educational curriculum based on GIGAKU, which is implemented at NUT, is applied taking account of conditions in Vietnam. It is the first full-scale export of graduate school from Japan and is jointly managed by selecting the president from HUST and the vice-president from NUT.

For undergraduate level education, NUT has been implementing the Twinning Program, which is the first among national universities, with HUST since 2003.
