President Dr. Niihara Participates in the Second Japan-Mexico University President Conference

President Dr. Niihara participated in the Second Japan-Mexico University President Conference, which was held at University of Guanajuato, Mexico on October 27 (Mon.) and 28 (Tue.) 2014.

In addition to government officials of both countries, numerous institutions of higher education participated in the conference: 27 from Japan and 52 from Mexico. People involved in Japanese-owned companies also participated, and a lively discussion was held.

In the conference, participants were divided into six panels, holding discussions about further exchange between Japan and Mexico. Among the panels, President Dr. Niihara participated in the “Innovation” panel and gave a presentation about an example of creating innovation based on “GIGAKU”, which is the basic philosophy of Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT).

NUT has concluded academic exchange agreements with eight universities in Mexico and has been engaged in lively exchanges through international cooperative education, such as the Twinning Program and the Double Degree Program.
