The 1st GIGAKU Techno Park (GTP) Alliance Meeting has been successfully held

 On 23rd and 24th of March, 2015, for the purpose of establishment of GTP networking, the 1st GIGAKU Techno Park Alliance Meeting in Nagaoka was held successfully. 21members from six strategic areas and private companies including Japanese entities joined. Consequently 50 members including outside has participated.

 At the beginning of session, as providing good practice and proactive reference, Dr. Hector, Director of Guanajuato Techno Park presented the current trend of Japanese global companies in Guanajuato together with referring to the opening of GIGAKU Techno Park of Nagaoka University of Technology. In particular, we welcomed representatives from the Basque Country for the first time. It was a great opportunity for all participants to understand well about the Basque country including industry, research fields, collaborative research systems, education scheme, and the latest development of industry-academia-government cooperation.

 While actively discussing, all participants recognized that in deployment of GTP strategy regional circumstance would precede. However, they found that regional SMEs should be a key sector for the innovation in “industry” and bridging SMEs in each regional with collaborative business and research activity would bring much more benefit to both SMEs and industries.

 Dr. Antonio, Director General, CONCYTEG also addressed his strong expectation that thanks to NUT’s GTP would undoubtedly bring greater benefits to not only exchange of students, engineers and researchers but also innovation in regional industry including SMEs.

 On the second day, during the workshop, various technological challenging issues which industries have been facing and trying to resolve were discussed lively. This workshop deepened understanding.

 Finally, all participants shared and recognized that by taking individual circumstance into account, the network of GTP will be increasingly broadened while highly qualified engineers are fostered through technology innovation among SMEs and academia.
