NUT Receives the 2015 Foreign Minister’s Award as a Member of the MJIIT Consortium

2015.10.14

The achievement is recognized as follows: “The organization was established in February 2009 as a consortium of universities in Japan and played a major role in opening Malaysia?Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT). Ever since MJIIT was opened, the consortium has continuously provided cooperation that forms the basis of the project as the supreme decision-making body and contributed to the promotion of the steady development of MJIIT, which can be considered a national project, and international exchanges in Malaysia.”

After Prime Minister of Malaysia, Mr. Mahathir and Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. Koizumi agreed to cooperate in the establishment of a new university in November 2001, Nagaoka University of Technology joined the preparatory committee in Japan, which was started immediately after the agreement, as a secretariat school for the preparation of the Department of Mechanical Engineering (one of the three departments to be established). Along with making a significant, substantial contribution to the preparation, NUT has cooperated in various ways since the establishment of the university consortium in Japan in February 2009. We began to accept students in September 2011 and continue to cooperate and contribute to the administration and educational activities, including the selection and dispatch of teachers and the acceptance of students to NUT, as a secretariat school for the Department of Mechanical Precision Engineering. Currently, five people involved in NUT, including graduates and former teachers, are taking active roles at MJIIT as teaching staff.
