Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Niigata Pays a Courtesy Call on President Dr. Azuma

 On December 16 (Wed.), 2015, Mr. He Ping, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Niigata, Mr. Zhang Yuan-Song, Consul for Education, and Mr. Chang Yi-Fei, Secretary for Consul General, paid a courtesy call on President Dr. Azuma.

 In the exchange of opinions with President Dr. Azuma, Executive Directors and Vice Presidents Dr. Kamado and Dr. Mikami, and Dr. Li, Prof. of Department of Information and Management Systems Engineering, we explained examples of challenges with Chinese universities to date and future development of NUT in the Top Global University Project. Consul General Mr. He Ping was strongly interested in our educational system integrating postgraduate and master’s work, the internship system with overseas dispatch, the uniqueness of system safety education including nuclear safety, and those of the highest employment and international student rates in Japan. The consul general eagerly posed questions related to cooperation for establishing technical colleges that have been developed in Mongolia, Mexico, and other countries. Explaining a system that supported Japanese students to study in China at the Chinese Government expense, he requested the use of the system as well as to enhance exchanges and cooperation with us for the future. After exchanging opinions, the party of the consul general had a friendly talk and exchange with teachers and students from China.

 Nagaoka University of Technology has accepted many international students from China since its founding and the cumulative total number of students accepted is the highest. Starting a twinning program with Zhengzhou University, China in 2007, we are currently accepting more than 70 international students.

 We continue to promote cooperation with China to produce excellent, pro-Japanese engineers.
