SDGs

2nd STI-Gigaku 2017 was held on 6th (Fri) - 7 th (Sat) October 2017. Continuing engaging our progress from 1st STI-Gigaku ( held on January 2017), STI-Gigaku encourages students to discuss issues such as energy, climate change, poverty, and hunger based on “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)” (17 goals and 169 targets) which the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit has adopted as the 2030 agenda for sustainable development in September 2015. It brought together over 100 participants from National Institute of Technology (NIT, KOSEN) and Nagaoka University of Technology under one roof to discuss issues facing above criteria and, we believe in-depth insight and solutions were shred among all participants.

The first day of STI-Gigaku kicked off with Poster presentation, Laboratory tour, and Ed
ucational research achievements presentation for Tri-Institutional Collaborative / Cooperative Educational Reform Project. The second day featured student work shop of which theme “Solutions for local issues leads Solutions for world issues”. Students developed the teaching method by using Japanese dice game “SUGOROKU” and board game forming group work in class.

In the event of poster presentation, 109 posters were contributed, and 14 poster presenters were awarded “BEST POSTER AWARD”. In the event of workshop, 28 students with 6 groups competed on creating idea which named IDEATHON(IDEA + MARAHON), and the most excellent team of presenters were awarded “BEST IDEA DESIGN AWARD” with conferment by Executive Director /Vice President Shigeharu Kamado, Nagaoka University of Technology.

STI-Gigaku is also dedicated to peruse our deep commitment to support and advance The United Nations Academic Impact of which commitment to the opportunity for every interested individual to acquire the skills and knowledge necessary for the pursuit of higher education.
