<HCMUT-NUT Office opening ceremony>
As one of the initiatives of Top Global University Project by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), Nagaoka University of Technology has been establishing offices in strategic overseas regions to support global research-education collaborations and global industry-academia collaborations. On Monday, July 15, we opened the HCMUT-NUT office in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam.
In Viet Nam, the HCMUT-NUT Office is the second office after the GIGAKU Techno Park (GTP) Hanoi Office established at Hanoi University of Science and Technology. In the world, it is the 11th office after Mongolia, Mexico (three offices), Viet Nam (Hanoi), Thailand, Malaysia, India, Spain/Basque, and Chile.
At the opening ceremony on July 15, a congratulatory telegram from NUT honorary doctorate Tsutomu Takebe, a special advisor of the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Association, was read after the opening remarks of Dr. Mai Thanh Phong, President of HCMUT. Afterwards, a remark was made by Dr. Nobuhiko Azuma, President of NUT, and Mr. Junichi Kawaue, Consul general, Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City. Then Dr. Takaomi Kobayashi, Professor of NUT, and Dr. Vu Anh Quang, Vice Director of External Relations Office of HCMUT, explained each university’ status of international collaboration.
After taking pictures with the participants, ribbons were cut at the HCMUT-NUT Office, and the opening ceremony was successfully completed in a peaceful atmosphere.
<Alumni reunion in Ho Chi Minh City>
On Sunday, July 14, an overseas alumni reunion was held at SH Garden Restaurant, in Ho Chi Minh City. NUT produces more than 230 Vietnamese graduates.
President Azuma, Professor Kobayashi, Associate Professor Sasaki, Coordinator Dr. Trang, and Coordinator Dr. Katsumi participated from NUT along with 8 alumni. We shared the pleasure of opening the HCMUT-NUT Office.
Since 2006, NUT has been promoting a Twinning Program with Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology between our Undergraduate Program of Electrical, Electronics and Information Engineering and their Division of Electronics Engineering. In 2018, we launched a new Twinning Program with the Division of Telecommunications Engineering. In April 2022, Twinning Program students are scheduled to transfer to the third grade of the Electrical, Electronics and Information Engineering and the Information and Management Systems Engineering at NUT. We will continue to strengthen our collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City through our HCMUT-NUT Office and an overseas alumni reunion.
