The article, titled “Robots to Rescue: Using Technology to Mitigate Effects of Natural Disasters,” was posted on the website of the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), operated by the UN Department of Public Information. The article explains how NuTech-R, a joint team of students from the Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) Rescue Engineering Laboratory (Associate professor Dr. KIMURA Tetsuya) and local companies, participated in the RoboCupRescue Robot League (RRRL), aiming to harness their own manufacturing capabilities to revitalize the earthquake-stricken area. The article also introduces an endeavor to establish Nagaoka Next Industry Service Robots Organization, or “Nexis-R,” and commercialize robots—primarily rescue robots—in partnership with NUT.
In the future, NUT will continue to play a leading role in initiatives aimed at achieving the SDGs and realizing a sustainable world.
