On July 7 (Wednesday), Dr. KATSUMI Mami, University Education Administrator (UEA), gave an online lecture on developing career perspectives and the SDGs as part of Nagaoka Tohoku Junior High School’s “Learn from the Professionals Talks.” The lecture was held to wrap up a series of classes taken by first-year students at the school during the integrated studies class, which were designed to help students think about the significance of work and form perspectives on work and professions.

In the lectures, Dr. Katsumi introduced her experience since entering the world of work and answered questions from students, including, “What kinds of jobs do your graduates often go on to do?” and, “What should we do for the future now as junior high school students?” Dr. Katsumi also introduced some basic knowledge of the SDGs that everyone in the world ought to know, along with details of SDG-related initiatives underway at Nagaoka University of Technology.

After the lecture, we received some words of thanks from the school: “We learned a lot from hearing about the SDGs and about Dr. Katsumi’s work experience.”
In the future, we will continue striving to promote career education and the SDGs through collaboration with the local community and other educational institutions.
