The "Industry-Academia Collaboration Meeting for Information Exchange" was held in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology

The "Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology-Nagaoka University of Technology Industry-Academia Collaboration Information Exchange Meeting" was held at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HCMUT) in Vietnam on Friday, February 24. The event was attended by more than 50 participants from companies and universities from both Vietnam and abroad.

Dr. Nguyen Danh Thao, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, and Minoru UMEDA, Executive Director and Vice President of Nagaoka University of Technology, offered opening remarks. Prof. Dr. UMEDA commented, "Since 2006, we have been implementing a Twinning Program with the Electrical, Electronics and Information Engineering program, and by last April, more than 100 students had enrolled in the third year of our undergraduate program. In addition, since 2018, we have been implementing a new Japanese language program (Japan-Oriented Program) in the Electrical, Electronics and Information Engineering and the Information and Management Systems Engineering programs, and students will be accepted for the Twinning Program from April of this year. Thus far, 120 students have enrolled in our university through the Twinning Program, and many students have begun working in Japan. We can say that we have truly created sustainable cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and our university.”

In addition, Mr. Tatsunobu ISODA, Mayor of Nagaoka City, presented a congratulatory telegram for the event, in which he said, "We warmly welcome the students from Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology to Japan. In collaboration with Nagaoka City and the Nagaoka University of Technology, we look forward to the creation of further innovation and stronger collaboration between industry, academia, and government.”

Dr. Nguyen Lee Dung, Vice Director of External Relations Office, HCMUT, Prof. Takaomi KOBAYASHI of our university, Mr. Akihiko TAKAHASHI, General Director of Solimachi Vietnam Co., Ltd., and Mr. Kaoru TAKAHASHI, General Director of ABE Industrial Vietnam Co., Ltd., presented case studies demonstrating international industry-academia collaboration activities utilizing the GIGAKU Techno Park Network and practical engineer development through international industry-academia collaboration, as well as corporate initiatives.

Moving forward, we shall continue to develop international industry-academia collaboration projects with the goal of fostering practical engineers who will lead the global community in cooperation with overseas-based universities, industries, and local governments.
