Associate Professor / SUZUKI Masataro
  • Elucidation of the mechanisms of combustion-related phenomena
  • Use your free time effectively!
  • Student-driven research!

Associate Professor / SUZUKI Masataro
The professor is a person who values the students' initiative, while at the same time energetically discussing and advising students when they are in need of help. In research, he gives us accurate advice from multiple perspectives, and our research progresses smoothly.

Research Content

In our laboratory, we are conducting research to elucidate the mechanisms of the following
Acoustic excitation: a phenomenon in which a flame is bifurcated or shortened by the application of sound waves to the flame, and is useful for combustion control.
Smoldering Combustion: Combustion without flame, which is dangerous because combustion occurs with a weak heat source.
Thermophoresis: is a phenomenon in which microparticles move from the hot side to the cold side in the gas phase with a temperature gradient.
Reignition: Flames reappear from combustibles that remain after flames have been extinguished by firefighting activities, and are difficult to extinguish reliably.

A Day in the Lab

There are no core hours in our laboratory, allowing students to conduct research in their free time. Seminars are held twice a week as progress reports. The professor requires us to think independently, so we not only participate but also actively express our opinions in order to have active discussions and to improve our research.

Seminars

Thesis Subjects
