Supervisor

Professor / Akira KAWAI
Prof. Kawai is focusing on making students grow through safety consciousness and their independence. If you have a great passion with difficult projects, he will help you with his full ability. In the laboratory meeting, he asks many questions and gives comments to us because he likes to discuss the various topics with us.

Research Content

Prof. Kawai has the experience and knowlege in the technical aspects for the state-of-the-art devices as a result of his 10 years working at a company. In our laboratory, we have the clean room (class 1000) which means there are non-particle such as dust. Furthermore, there are wide-kind device fabricating apparatusses. Our work is to fabricate nano and micro size devices. We are developping devices which can be applied to the biomedical field with the latest technologies. Our laboratory has earned over 40 prizes thanks to the self-developed ingenious systems.

We wear the special clothes when we are in the clean room.

A Day in the Lab

We start laboratory's activities every morning with cleaning and regular checking of the apparatuses. We then start to study according to each person's schedule. These schedules involve in researching studies from around the world and then meeting with Prof. Kawai, to organize experiment schedules and our study direction. In the weekly meeting, we make a presentation similar to a conference.
