Associate Professor / KUSAKA Keisuke
Associate Professor Kusaka is very supportive in research and always offers thoughtful and practical advice. He actively participates in lab events and enjoys spending time with students, creating a friendly and open atmosphere. As an alumnus of Nagaoka University of Technology, he also provides valuable guidance from a senior’s perspective, which is very reassuring for students.

Research Content

We study power electronics, which is a technology for power conversion using semiconductor devices. This technology is used in many familiar applications, such as electric and hybrid vehicles, renewable energy sources like solar and wind power, and household appliances. In our laboratory, students work in three groups—the Circuit Group, the Magnetics Group, and the Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) Group—to study power conversion technologies that make power circuits smaller, more efficient, and longer-lasting.

The experiment in progress

A Day in the Lab

The Kusaka Laboratory adopts a free-address system, meaning that students do not have fixed seats. This creates an open environment where it is easy to consult with professors and senior students. The laboratory recently established a new experimental room, providing a clean and well-equipped space for research. In addition to academic activities, the lab also enjoys events such as skiing, fireworks, and barbecues, allowing students to experience a balanced and fulfilling laboratory life. For more details about our lab activities, students and professors regularly share updates on our website, so please feel free to visit and learn more.
