System Control Engineering Laboratory

Lecturer / TOYODA Mitsuru
  • Investigate the mathematics of systems control and optimization
  • Create novel methodologies with our flexible ideas
  • Apply control and optimization to engineering problems

Lecturer / TOYODA Mitsuru
He always respects our ideas and opinions and helps us to become strong and tough engineers. He likes chatting with us, and the students of our laboratory are also friendly. As he says, the reason he studies control is that "it’s cool!".

Research Content

Roughly speaking, systems control(and similar words, such as control engineering)is a research field addressing the analysis of dynamical systems, such as differential and difference equations. We are especially interested in the interdisciplinary field of optimization and systems control and its related research area. Our challenges include both theoretical studies(e.g., mathematical and numerical explorations of algorithms) and application studies focusing on engineering problems.

A Day in the Lab

We do not have so-called core-time and can proceed with the study on our own schedule; therefore, we can freely enjoy our hobbies and part-time jobs. The relationship between sensei and students is relatively close, and we can freely communicate. Furthermore, before our presentations, he stays in the laboratory with us and supports our studies. The discussion among students is also active and frequent. We mainly focus on theoretical approaches but can challenge application studies as we like. Because our laboratory is newly established, we simultaneously arrange the research environment by ourselves.
