In our laboratory, we study various processes in the Earth’s water cycle, including precipitation, rivers, ocean currents, and evapotranspiration. We examine these phenomena from the perspectives of hydrology and meteorology, aiming to contribute to society through disaster prevention and mitigation by conducting experiments, observations, and data analyses.
In meteorology, we actively study snowfall by taking advantage of Niigata’s climate, using a weather radar and observational instruments installed on the university rooftop. In other fields, we investigate river flooding, rip currents, and evapotranspiration using numerical simulations.
