Associate Professor / SATO Takeshi
Associate Professor Sato is a warm-hearted person who is always considerate and supportive of each student in his lab.
During his student days, he led an energetic student life, doing research, participating in club activities, and working part-time. He draws on his wealth of experience to give kind advice about research, work, and life in general.

Research Content

Glycan consists of monosaccharide such as glucose, which is an important material for life phenomenon. For example, ABO blood type is determined by difference of monosaccharide of the glycan terminal. In addition, it relates to various disease. It is well known that glycan structure changes in cancer cell compared to normal cell. Our purpose is contribution by applying to the field of life science and medicine by revealing the function of glycan and expression mechanism.

A Day in the Lab

The lab’s core hours are 9:30-18:00. We conduct glycobiology research using experimental methods such as protein analysis, genetic manipulation, and cell culture. We hold weekly seminars to report on research progress and introduce related papers, deepening understanding through lively discussions. We also provide opportunities for individual consultations with faculty, allowing students to create research plans and proceed with experiments at their own pace. We also hold events such as welcome parties and farewell parties for new students, helping to enrich student life.
