Associate Professor / KUWAHARA Takashi, Technical Staff / KONDO Mizuki
Associate Professor Kuwahara is a friendly and approachable professor who values communication. Students can talk with him freely about academic and non-academic topics, and he is always open to students’ questions. Ms. Kondo supports the laboratory with her expertise in analytical instruments and warmly looks after students, creating a supportive laboratory environment.

Research Content

We study electrochemical biosensors for detecting biomolecules. Electrochemical sensors have attracted attention because they enable rapid and non-destructive detection. The performance of these sensors strongly depends on how biomolecules are immobilized on electrode surfaces and how biological functions are converted into electrical signals. Our research focuses on combining biomaterials with organic and inorganic materials to create functional sensors. We also develop simple and rapid methods for measuring biological functions and target molecule concentrations in biological environments.

Development of novel biosensors based on unexplored detection principles.

A Day in the Lab

In our laboratory, students are encouraged to maintain a healthy balance between research and daily life. We work hard during the day and value sufficient rest. Our professor respects students’ independence, allowing us to manage our own schedules and daily activities. Good time management enables students to engage not only in research but also in other interests. We hold weekly seminars to present research progress and emphasize open communication among students of all academic years, creating a comfortable and open laboratory atmosphere.
