Participation in “Dai Minyo-Nagashi” of Nagaoka Festival
2015.08.03
As they did last year, the students and teaching staff of Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) took part in the eve of the Nagaoka Festival “Dai Minyo-Nagashi” held on August 1 (Sat.) as part of an exchange with local residents.
About 5,300 Nagaoka City residents of 56 groups participated in Dai Minyo-Nagashi. In all, the approximately 110 NUT participants comprised the teaching staff, including Executive Director and Vice President Dr. Azuma, Vice President Dr. Nakade, and Vice President Dr. Saito, and students, including international students. They dressed in matching yukata and set out as a large group heading to “Suzuran Street” and “Ote Street” in front of the station. Their performances “Nagaoka Jinku” and “Ohanabi Ondo” were received with loud cheering and clapping from many residents and tourists who lined the streets.
Students also joined the “Yukyu Taiko” performance, held as one event during the Nagaoka Festival, which greatly deepened exchanges with residents.
