The Alumni Reunion of the Twinning Program with the Mexican Universities was held at the Shufu Kaikan Plaza F in Tokyo on Saturday, March 22, 2025. Our university launched the Twinning Program (TP) with Universidad de Monterrey and Universidad de Nuevo Leon in 2007. A total of 82 graduates have completed the program by the academic year 2023. This reunion marked the second gathering, following the alumni reunion held in Mexico last September.
The event was attended by a total of 37 participants, including 13 alumni who are actively working in Japan, representatives from the three universities, Mr. Cosme Garcia, First Secretary of the Embassy of Mexico, Japanese language teachers of the program who guided the alumni, and current TP students enrolled at our university. From our university, President Kamado, Vice President Takahashi (International Relations and NUT Alumni), Special Presidential Aide Miyashita, and Presidential Aide Lee-Iizuka participated. The attendees celebrated their reunion, shared updates on their recent activities, reminisced about the past, and enjoyed speeches from alumni and participants, which created the lively atmosphere of the event.
The Twinning Program will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2027. This reunion provided an opportunity to reflect on the program's history and to reaffirm the strong connections among the three universities, as well as the bonds formed among alumni and participants through the TP. Moving forward, we will continue to strengthen these relationships, further develop the program, and strive to enhance the education and research opportunities for our students.
