Associate Professor / NAMBU Isao
Our laboratory was established in 2017. Nambu Sensei is a dedicated and friendly supervisor. He is a respected teacher who is always ready to listen and provide practical contributions to solving problems, not only in research but also in the daily lives of students. Under his guidance, every laboratory member feels greatly supported and encouraged.

Research Content

The human brain can perform complex tasks such as motor control or recognition at an incredible speed that surpasses any high-graded computer. However, until now, we do not have a clear understanding of our brain, and many phenomena of our brain have not been explained in detail. Therefore, our laboratory was established with the goal and desire to discover the mysteries of the human nervous system. Our laboratory's main research relates to measuring brain activities (by ionic currents within neurons of the brain or hemodynamic responses) and muscular activity.

A Day in the Lab

Our laboratory fundamentally does not have core time nor imposes specific times for arriving at or leaving the laboratory. However, to monitor research progress and address any sudden issues that students may encounter, we have a weekly individual report session with Nambu sensei on Fridays. Additionally, in our laboratory, seminars are organized during the two main semesters of the academic year, with the participation of all lab members. Furthermore, Japanese students, as well as students from other countries (Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia), are very close friends, often going shopping, dining, or just having light chats while enjoying snacks, tea, or coffee.
