Signal Processing Application Laboratory

Associate Professor / SUGITA Yasunori
  • We Don't Just Hear Sound. We Control It!
  • From Noise to Clarity. That’s Our Signal!
  • This Is Where Our Research Begins!

Associate Professor / SUGITA Yasunori
Associate Professor Sugita is a warm and approachable teacher, much like a father figure. He’s a true sound professional — ask one question and you’ll get a hundred answers back. He is very easy to talk to and is truly loved by many students.

Research Content

In our lab, we research Digital Signal Processing technology for sound.

Our diverse research themes include bone and tooth-bone conduction (listening through vibrations), spatial audio reproduction using headphones and speaker arrays, and noise control technology to cancel out unwanted sounds.

One of the best things about our lab is that you can conduct experiments in one of the largest anechoic chambers in Japan. Research topics are very flexible—as long as you use digital signal processing, you can consult with the professor to choose a topic you are passionate about.

A Day in the Lab

Since we have no core hours, everyone researches at their own pace. You can easily balance your studies with hobbies, clubs, and part-time work.

We hold seminars twice a week to check our progress through presentations and discuss any issues. While our schedule is highly flexible, you need the self-discipline to plan ahead and push your research forward independently.

If you don't understand something, don't ignore it—ask for help! The professor and senior students are very approachable and will gladly take the time to teach you.
