Professor / ISHIBASHI Takayuki
Our supervising teacher, Mr. Ishibashi, is familiar with a wide range of fields and is very approachable. He values the students' autonomy and works with us to find solutions to their problems from a professional standpoint.

Research Content

Our surroundings are filled with invisible objects such as electromagnetic waves, sound waves, and magnetic fields. In our laboratory, we are studying magnetic garnet thin films that can visualize magnetic fields and developing application technologies. Visualization of magnetic fields is expected to become a new nondestructive inspection technology not only for the evaluation of magnetic materials, but also for the inspection of metallic materials, electric circuits and electronic devices. Magnetic garnet thin films are fabricated using a coating deposition technique called organometallic decomposition method. In addition, we also conduct research and development on magneto-optical AI devices, magneto-optical imaging technology and magneto-optical measurement technology.

A Day in the Lab

In the Ishibashi Laboratory, we are divided into groups according to major research themes. The core hours of our laboratory are from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. At weekly seminars, students deepen their understanding of their research by presenting their research progress and introducing papers. As for academic conferences, we actively participate in conferences held in Japan and abroad. Many of our students are from overseas, and they have opportunities to use English on a daily basis in seminars, experiments, and other situations.
