Associate Professor / TODA Tomoyuki
Associate Professor Toda is cheerful and approachable. In research supervision, he carefully observes each student’s progress and provides thoughtful guidance through discussion. In addition to encouraging students to try things first, he places strong emphasis on understanding why results occur, which leaves a lasting impression on students.

Research Content

In our laboratory, we conduct integrated research ranging from the design of organometallic complexes and various catalysts to monomer synthesis and polymer synthesis, aiming to create novel polymeric materials. Our research is based on organic synthesis, with careful molecular-level design, and we challenge ourselves to produce compounds and materials that did not exist until yesterday through synthesis and polymerization. Using glovebox techniques that strictly exclude oxygen and moisture, we precisely control polymerization reactions and carefully investigate polymer microstructures and material properties.

A Day in the Lab

Our laboratory was newly established and is currently in a phase of being shaped together with students. Research themes and laboratory management are developed while actively incorporating students’ ideas, creating an environment where students can engage in research proactively and enjoyably. By embodying the philosophy “Cherish this moment and have fun!”, the laboratory provides careful guidance tailored to each student’s progress, allowing both students and faculty to grow together. Students interested in polymer synthesis or organometallic chemistry are warmly encouraged to visit.
