  • Maintenance of bridges for the future
  • Jobs that remain on the map
  • A relaxed and friendly research laboratory

Professor / IWASAKI Eiji
Mr. Iwasaki is conducting research on the redundancy assessment of steel structures, as well as evaluating the load resistance of existing structures and studying the corrosion environment and corrosion assessment.

Research Content

Bridges are vital structures supporting comfortable living. Our steel structure lab focuses on researching bridges using steel. Different bridge types exhibit various characteristics and properties. We analyze their behavior, conduct finite element analysis using the DIANA software, investigate corrosion in bridges using weather-resistant steel.

A Day in the Lab

The steel structure lab operates without core hours, allowing members to conduct research based on individual themes, including structural analysis and experiments. Despite the focused research, there are moments for casual discussions, shared snacks, and a relaxed atmosphere. Members also enjoy lab competitions and events like the Nagaoka fireworks. With a diverse group of international students, it offers a lively environment to explore different cultures and enhance English proficiency while actively enjoying university life.
