Professor / HOSOYAMADA Tokuzo, Professor / NAKAMURA Fuminori, Associate Professor / INUKAI Naoyuki
Both professors respect student autonomy, allowing you to decide and progress with your research at your own discretion. Of course, if you approach them for a consultation, they will provide kind and precise advice. There is also a more personal side to them: Professor Hosoyamada plays the guitar, and Professor Inukai enjoys diving.

Research Content

We study floods, tsunamis, rip currents, and other phenomena. We conduct experiments using large-scale on-campus channels and field surveys along the Sea of Japan. Analyses involve physical, statistical, and machine learning models. With excellent experimental and analytical facilities, we offer diverse research opportunities. This lab is ideal for those interested in both hydraulic engineering and information technology who are eager to learn proactively.

A Day in the Lab

The place where you spend your time depends on your research theme. In this laboratory, work is carried out in either the student room, the computer lab, the hydraulics laboratory, or the large-scale experimental building. There is no core time; you can progress freely according to your individual progress and lecture schedule. Seminars are divided by supervisor and serve not only to track research progress but also as study groups, providing opportunities to proactively adopt new knowledge and technologies.
