Research Content

We conduct research with the aim of understanding human cognitive activity by regarding it as an information-processing system and examining its processing stages. Differences in cognition are mainly evaluated through the analysis of brain activity data obtained using devices such as electroencephalography and near-infrared spectroscopy, as well as subjective evaluations collected through questionnaires. When analyzing and evaluating data obtained from experiments, research is carried out through ongoing discussions between faculty members and students about the methods and content of the analysis.

A Day in the Lab

In the laboratory seminars, students present their individual research progress and introduce academic papers. By discussing the content as a group and identifying points of uncertainty, research can be carried out smoothly. In addition, study sessions are held on topics such as creating experimental programs using Python and learning how to operate experimental equipment. Research topics vary depending on each student’s interests, and when students encounter difficulties in their research, faculty members with broad knowledge and senior lab members provide support.
