  • Use your free time effectively!
  • Student-driven research!

Professor / SUZUKI Masataro
The professor values students’ initiative, while also actively engaging in discussions and offering guidance whenever we need help. In research, he provides accurate and insightful advice from multiple perspectives, which allows our work to progress smoothly.

Research Content

Our laboratory is currently conducting research in the following areas:
Acoustic excitation: The phenomenon whereby irradiating a flame with sound waves causes it to branch or shorten.
Smoldering combustion: Combustion without flame. It is hazardous as combustion can occur with a weak heat source.
Heat transfer: The phenomenon whereby particles move from a high-temperature region to a low-temperature region within a gas phase containing a temperature gradient.
Reignition: Flames reappear from combustibles that remain after flames have been extinguished by firefighting activities.
Hydrogen mitigation: Both combustion testing and analytical methods are employed to safely remove hydrogen through combustion.

A Day in the Lab

There are no core working hours in our laboratory, allowing students to
conduct their research on a flexible schedule. Seminars are held twice a
week to report and discuss our progress. The professor encourages
independent thinking, so we not only participate but also actively
express our ideas to promote lively discussions and improve the quality
of our research.
