Professor / YAMADA Noboru
Professor Yamada is genuinely concerned about us students. He is always willing to give any kind of advice, from research to job hunting. He gives us precise guidance on our research in particular and responds warmly to our questions.

Research Content

Our laboratory primarily focuses on harnessing the efficient potential of renewable natural energy sources, such as solar and thermal energy. Our research encompasses a variety of themes, including the development of PV modules for 3D curved surfaces for use in electric vehicles, the optimal control of double-sided tracking photovoltaic systems using AI, the development of Carnot batteries for thermoelectric power generation, the development of heat storage systems using complex-shaped heat exchangers, and the development of wearable air-conditioning systems. Our laboratory is driven by a passion for contributing to the design, analysis, optimization, and experimentation of next-generation energy systems, with a focus on introducing innovative concepts to further the progress towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A Day in the Lab

There is no core time in this laboratory, allowing all members to build their own schedules. Lab's members are divided into two teams - 'Photovoltaic power' and 'Thermal energy', with each team working together to acquire a wide range of knowledge. Regular seminars serve undergraduate students give weekly and graduate students give fortnightly progress reports. Due to the strong teamwork culture among members, we maintain a good track record and produced highly regarded research results. There are also international students from various countries in this laboratory, giving everyone opotunitiy to comunate in English and providing exposure to multiple difference cultures. This laboratory is also actively involved in events outside of research, contributing to a friendly and positive enviroment.
