“The Third International GIGAKU Conference in Nagaoka (IGCN 2014)” was held at Nagaoka University of Technology for three days, from June 20 (Fri.) to 22 (Sun.). The international conference was held in the hopes that “GIGAKU” will come to be a universal language and an important avenue of internationalization in the Nagaoka region. This third conference, following the conferences in February 2012 and June 2013, was held on a large-scale: 370 people participated, including 44 people from 11 countries.

In the Plenary Session, lectures were given by Dr. Inoue (Executive Trustee and Vice President of Toyohashi University of Technology), Dr. Aye Myint (President of Yangon Technological University, Myanmar), Dr. Jose Manuel Cabrera Sixto (President of University of Guanajuato, Mexico), and Mr. Sergio Inclan (Mexican Minister to Japan). In the end, Dr. Niihara (President of Nagaoka University of Technology) delivered a lecture on new globalization of Nagaoka University of Technology through GIGAKU.

In the breakout sessions, which were divided into five sessions of Green Technology, Material Design, Innovation & Branding, GIGAKU Education, Safety Society & Technology, lively discussions were held in oral and poster presentations.

In addition, a banquet was held at the Hotel New Otani Nagaoka on the 21st (Sat.), in which the Best Poster Award was presented.
