Conferment Ceremony for Honorary Doctorate Celebrated

Nagaoka University of Technology (NUT) conferred honorary doctorates on Dr. Nguyen Trong Giang (President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Vietnam) and Dr. Jose Manuel Cabrera Sixto (President of University of Guanajuato, Mexico) at the first meeting room of NUT on June 21, 2014 (Sat.).

Dr. Nguyen Trong Giang became the president of Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) in 2008. Subsequently he concluded an agreement with NUT to promote research cooperation in Vietnam in the fields of nuclear safety and rare metals. On the occasion of the implementation of the Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development Project “Establishment of Carbon-Cycle-System with Natural Rubber”, which NUT has adopted, he made efforts to prepare systems within HUST and to install a pilot plant.

Dr. Jose Manuel Cabrera Sixto took office as President of University of Guanajuato (UG) in 2009. Since then, he has been promoting various projects to expand the mutual exchange of students and teaching staff between the two universities through the implementation of the Double Degree Program with NUT in the master’s and doctoral programs.

We decided to confer honorary doctorates on both presidents for their distinguished achievements in the expansion of exchange with NUT. The conferment ceremony was held in a friendly atmosphere the whole time with people involved in the two universities in attendance.
