On Friday, March 3, a study trip for international students and others was held. 10 international students visited Tsubame Industrial Materials Museum and Open Factory of TOJIRO Co., Ltd in Tsubame City, Niigata Prefecture.
At the Tsubame Industrial Materials Museum, the students hammered the surface of a pure copper tumbler to create a hammered pattern on it to create their own original tumbler. They also learned about the history of Tsubame's industries, which have continued from the Edo period to the present day. At the Open Factory of TOJIRO Co., Ltd, they were able to get a close-up look at the manufacturing process, feeling the real sounds and smells of an actual factory.
By seeing and experiencing the social conditions of Japan, including its traditions, natural climate, history, and industry, the participating international students were able to deepen their awareness of Japanese culture as well as help in their daily education and research.
