Associate Professor / NAKATA Taiki
Has an uncompromising honesty to research. Always communicate proactively with us, providing frequent/precise instructions. Students sometimes get strict opinion against their data and consideration if they poorly understand the results.

Research Content

The main purpose is to develop high-performance magnesium alloys that can be used as structural components of transportation vehicles. We have 100-ton press and rolling machines, which are suitable for fabricating large-scale magnesium materials. We also have electron/atomic force microscopes, which are suitable microstructural observation, providing a confortable research environment where we can perform everything(manufacturing, evaluation, and analysis). We also conduct collaborative researches with companies and other universities/research institutes, which help us to acquire wide variety of knowledges.

A Day in the Lab

Our laboratory has no fixed schedule(core time)for students, allowing us to freely and independently conduct researches. All equipments are always available, including 100-ton press/rolling machines, microscopes, and universal testing machines. Each student is assigned a research topic, and students can frequently receive accurate guidance on experimental results and research strategies by face-to-face conversation.
