Associate Professor / KUMOI Gendo, Assistant Professor / Nur Adlin Binti Abu Bakar
In the Theory of Machine Learning Laboratory, Associate Professor Gendo Kumoi demonstrates strong expertise in machine learning, statistics, and theory. He explains complex concepts clearly using simple examples. Through weekly seminars and attentive supervision, he supports each student’s research direction, offering thoughtful guidance that builds confidence and encourages deeper exploration and innovation in research.

Research Content

In this lab, our aim is to deepen mathematical understanding of machine learning theory through rigorous theoretical foundations and structured modeling approaches. Current research includes generating weather forecast comments using generative AI and analyzing organizational behavior through chat application messages, etc. As an additional topic, theoretical and empirical studies on user behavior modeling are conducted using artificial data and real-world business data to examine learning behavior, uncertainty, and performance under realistic conditions.

Research Field

A Day in the Lab

A typical day in the lab is both productive and enjoyable. The research environment is well organized and fully equipped to support focused academic work while also providing space for relaxation and casual conversations, helping members maintain motivation and balance. Each week, the group gathers to present research progress, exchange ideas, and engage in constructive discussions to determine next steps. These regular seminars encourage critical thinking and continuous improvement. Outside formal meetings, students frequently collaborate and share insights in the lab, creating a supportive and interactive atmosphere that fosters communication, teamwork, and strong research synergy among members.
