Associate Professor / Yuichi OTSUKA
He is a very enthusiastic researcher who has prepared an environment for studying with many international students and person studying in the different field.

Research Content

The research field of our laboratory is biomaterials.
In elucidating the mechanism of mechanical loosening, the validity of loosening of the acetabular cup, fretting wear of the bioactive film, and the interface strength evaluation standard of the bioactive film has been validated. Aim to elucidate. In the development of functional biofilms, there are synthesis of HAp fluorescent complex by CIP method and evaluation of antibacterial property, formation of film on titanium porous body and evaluation of durability, aiming at development of film that contributes to longer life by utilizing dynamics.

A Day in the Lab

This laboratory is in collaboration with Associate Professor Miyashita of Mechanical Engineering. Undergraduates, masters, doctors, international students, and both teachers have seminars in English every morning. There are also seminars (master's)twice a week, cleaning and regular meetings. In addition, parties are regularly held because international students frequently enter and interns. Some students participate in international conferences or write dissertations.

Thesis Subjects

  • (M)Damage evaluation of HAp coating and simulated bone using infrared thermography and acoustic emission in acetabular cup
  • (M)Wear powder generation behavior and cytotoxicity evaluation from interface between hydroxyapatite sprayed coating and titanium alloy substrate during fretting fatique process
  • (D)Effects of residual stress and coating thickness on fatigue behavior of TiAlN coated Titanium Alloys
