On December 9 (Friday), an on-campus explanatory meeting was held to discuss the following three projects that were adopted by Nagaoka University of Technology during this academic year.
- Project to Promote the Reformation of National University Management: Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology
- Program on Open Innovation Platform for Industry-Academia Co-Creation (COI-NEXT): Japan Science and Technology Agency
- Inter-University Exchange Project: Japan Society for the Promotion of Science
President Kamado explained the undertaking of these three new large-scale projects to fulfill the vision for the future with the entire university’s shared understanding, and described forthcoming plans. After that, a representative from each project presented an introductory overview.
The COI-NEXT project involves research to solve problems faced by local “komedokoro” regions (rice-producing regions) in cooperation with Nagaoka City and other municipalities as well as private companies. The Project to Promote the Reformation of National University Management will be conducted in collaboration with Toyohashi University of Technology and KOSEN colleges of technology, and aims to improve regional innovation and human resource development throughout Japan. The Inter-University Exchange Project is an international cooperative educational program that utilizes a multidimensional (physical, remote, and virtual) campus developed in partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras and the University of York. In addition to deepening the understanding of all faculty and staff, the explanatory meeting also called for the participation of younger faculty members in these projects.
This explanatory meeting provided an opportunity to increase the understanding and sentiment of the faculty and staff toward the new projects, and to facilitate the progress of these projects as a unified institution.
