Nagaoka University of Technology was appointed as a United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) SDG 9 Hub university for the first term (from 2018 to the end of May 2021). As the only SDG9 Hub university in the world, we have been promoting education and research oriented at achieving all the goals, centering on Goal9 (Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation.) We also have been promoting social contribution activities oriented at achieving the SDGs by creating opportunities for people to become familiar with the SDGs through SDG games and lectures, raising awareness of the SDGs in local communities, and spreading awareness of the SDGs as issues directly related to our own lives.

The United Nations has officially re-appointed us as the SDG9 Hub university for the second term (from 2021 to the end of December 2024.)
