Dr. Ryoji Chubachi, President of the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) visits on the invitation of Nagaoka City

On Saturday, August 3, at Nagaoka City Hall Aore, Dr. Ryoji Chubachi, President of AIST, Dr. Koji Watari, Director-general of the Research and Innovation Promotion Headquarters of AIST, Dr. Azuma, President of Nagaoka University of Technology, Prof. Takashi Yamaguchi, Department of Science of Technology Innovation, Prof. Wataru Ogasawara, Prof. Tadachika Nakayama, Dr. Takahiro Watari, Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Dr. Motomu Takeshige, President of NITNC, and Mr. Nobuo Araki, Assistant to the President of NITNC, gathered to discuss the creation of local industries and innovation with Mr. Tatsunobu Isoda, Mayor of Nagaoka City. Mr. Isoda presented collaborative activities among three universities and one technical college located in Nagaoka City, and Dr. Chubachi provided advice on how to create local industries. The participants discussed future collaborations.

On Sunday, August 4, Dr. Chubachi visited the Settaya District of Nagaoka City, where he discussed fermentation technology to produce miso, soy sauce, and sake as well as urban planning with the President of Takada Architectural Office.

We hope to strengthen the function as a university to contribute to the realization of smarter communities and the development of human resources by enhancing our collaboration with AIST, Nagaoka City, and NITNC.
